Responsibilities
Prepare or review financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules
Oversee bank reporting and compliance requirements
Manage risk and insurance coordination for clients
Review inventory cost accounting, including winery production and cost allocations
Perform or review recurring financial deliverables for accuracy and timeliness
Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining clear and consistent communication
Provide advisory guidance and strategic insights aligned with client goals
Act as a Controller-level resource, helping clients strengthen accounting systems and financial operations
Supervise senior accountants and review work prepared by senior and staff-level team members
Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and support to enhance performance
Ensure deliverables meet AWG’s standards for quality and accuracy
Oversee the design, enhancement, and implementation of accounting systems and processes
Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls
Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvements to increase accuracy and productivity
Qualification
Required
6+ years professional accounting experience with a strong background in financial reporting, cost accounting, and GAAP compliance
Experience in the wine industry is required
Skilled in inventory accounting (preferably winery-specific)
Superior accuracy and technical expertise, knowledge of client industries
Excellent communication, attention to detail, strong analytical skills
Expert use of accounting software & systems, and ability to learn new systems quickly
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Proactive problem solving and project management
Bachelor's degree required
Preferred
