Brake Design & Release Engineer
Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever, focusing on emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles. The Brake Design & Release Engineer will be integral in designing and developing brake system hardware for Rivian’s Electric Vehicles, guiding projects from concept to production release.

Responsibilities
Lead system and component design for brake rotors, calipers, park brakes, pedals, and actuation systems while managing supplier interfaces and core engineering deliverables
Identify technical challenges and drive problem solving through development, validation, and series production
Ensure all brake components and subsystems meet required local, regional, and international homologation standards for Rivian markets
Create clear and comprehensive engineering specification packages for internal and external partners
Own and manage component and vehicle level design verification requirements, testing plans, and execution
Complete and release brake system component documentation including 3D models, 2D drawings, and supporting data
Build and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers to deliver hardware on time, to spec, and aligned with program goals
Deliver brake systems that meet program timing, cost targets, and all vehicle attribute requirements including mass, vehicle dynamics, crash, aero, NVH, and chassis performance
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
3+ years of experience in a chassis design and/or development role at an OEM or supplier
Strong proficiency in brake system design fundamentals, including brake rotors, calipers, pedals, actuation systems, materials, and manufacturing processes
Experience with brake-by-wire and ADAS technologies, and design standards used across the industry
Candidates should be self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced team environment
Excellent communication skills, able to interact effectively with domestic and international teammates & suppliers
Possess a genuine interest in EVs & Adventure Vehicles and is driven with unwavering enthusiasm and curiosity to learn as much as possible about chassis design & technologies
Must be a self-starter, use initiative and engineering judgement
Ability to interpret data and solve complex problems using first principles
