Civil/Structural Engineer 4
NuScale Power is a company focused on nuclear energy solutions, and they are seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer 4 to perform civil structural analyses and design of Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures. The role requires a strong design background with proficiency in structural concrete and steel analysis and design, and involves interaction with various disciplines and oversight of suppliers.

Responsibilities
Uses structural engineering tools and implements appropriate standards to design Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures including post-processing analytical results and designing structures for various material types (concrete, steel, etc)
Interacts with other disciplines and structural engineering consultants in an effort to allow effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should possess or acquire general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields in order to function on multi-disciplinary teams
Develops and reviews requirements documents, methodology documents, design reports, and studies
Possess strong written and oral communication skills and routinely interacts with contractors and/or regulatory bodies
Lead the oversight of suppliers and review technical information (i.e. drawings, reports, specifications, calculations, etc.) to ensure it aligns with statements of work and requirements documents
Provide mentorship to more junior team members. May be asked to take the lead in technical issues as needed
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Expertise with ANSYS is required
A minimum of a BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school is required
Minimum of 8 years of nuclear/non-nuclear experience as a Structural Design Engineer is required
Design and analysis of structures, including concrete and steel, use of design software and finite element method analyses
Use of ANSYS is required
Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810
Preferred
An advanced degree is preferred
A registered professional engineer license (P.E.) is strongly preferred
Working with the following codes preferred: ASCE 43, ASCE 4, ACI 349 & 318, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC N690, Steel Construction Manual and Seismic Design Manual
LS-DYNA is preferred
Computer programming skills (e.g. Matlab, or Python) is not required, but preferred
Prior US Commercial Nuclear experience is a priority preference, but not required
