Endpoint Engineering Services (Cyber IT Business Process Engineer III)

This role involves providing advanced expertise in endpoint engineering and management services for the Defense Health Agency, ensuring optimal performance and security of a vast IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities
Provides advanced expertise and leadership in endpoint engineering and management services for the Defense Health Agency's extensive and diverse IT infrastructure
Serves as a key specialist responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing endpoint management solutions across DHA's global network of military hospitals, medical clinics, and dental clinics
Leads the development and implementation of comprehensive endpoint engineering strategies that align with DoD cybersecurity requirements, Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST guidelines, and various DoD strategies including Zero Trust, ICAM, and Digital Modernization
Ensures these strategies are effectively implemented across approximately 250,000 end-user devices, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and medical equipment
Designs and oversees the implementation of advanced endpoint management architectures, including mobile device management (MDM), enterprise mobility management (EMM), and unified endpoint management (UEM) solutions
Ensures seamless integration of these systems with DHA's existing IT infrastructure and security controls
Develops and implements robust endpoint security measures, including endpoint detection and response (EDR), advanced threat protection, data loss prevention (DLP), and encryption technologies
Ensures that all endpoints maintain a strong security posture against evolving cyber threats
Leads initiatives to standardize and optimize endpoint configurations across the DHA network, developing and maintaining secure baseline configurations for various device types and use cases. Implements automated processes for configuration management and compliance checking
Collaborates with cybersecurity teams to integrate endpoint management solutions with broader security operations, including security information and event management (SIEM) systems, vulnerability management platforms, and incident response workflows
Oversee the implementation and management of patch management processes for all endpoints, ensuring timely application of security updates and maintaining compliance with DoD security standards
Develops and implements strategies for secure remote access and telework capabilities, ensuring that off-site endpoints maintain the same level of security and compliance as on-premises devices
Leads efforts to automate endpoint management processes, developing scripts and leveraging AI and machine learning technologies to enhance efficiency, reduce human error, and improve security in endpoint-related operations
Provides expert guidance on endpoint engineering best practices to IT and security teams across DHA
Develops and delivers training programs to ensure all relevant personnel understand and adhere to established endpoint management policies and procedures
Collaborates with clinical engineering teams to develop secure management strategies for medical devices and other specialized endpoints, balancing security requirements with clinical functionality and regulatory compliance. Generates regular reports on the state of endpoint management within DHA, including metrics on device compliance, security incidents, and operational efficiency
Presents findings and recommendations to leadership for continuous improvement
Stays abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies in endpoint engineering, particularly those relevant to large-scale, complex healthcare IT environments
Recommends and implements improvements to enhance security, user experience, and operational efficiency
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field
Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent) are required
8-10 years of experience in endpoint engineering and management, with at least 5 years focused on large-scale, complex environments
Demonstrable experience in implementing and managing comprehensive endpoint management solutions, preferably in military or healthcare settings
Familiarity with DoD security regulations and endpoint management frameworks is essential
Ability to obtain a Public Trust
Preferred
Endpoint management-specific certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, VMware Certified Professional - Digital Workspace) are highly desirable
