The NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD is seeking a NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST INSPECTOR to join their NDT Production Support Branch. The role involves utilizing advanced test methods to solve complex inspection problems and conducting various inspections to ensure quality assurance.

Responsibilities

You will utilize the most advanced test methods and procedures in solving the most complex inspection problems

You will conduct radiographic inspections

You will perform calibration and safety checks of test equipment prior to and performance of NDT inspections

You will conduct liquid penetrant inspections to detect surface discontinuities in both ferrous and non ferrous materials and welds using both visible and fluorescent dyes

You will utilize a wide array of highly sophisticated, quality control inspection/NDT techniques as well as utilize many unique and specialty designed precision instruments and gauges

You will be required to maintain a certification and understanding in performing Liquid Penetrant Testing

You will be required to maintain a certification and understanding in performing Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)

You will be required to maintain a certification and understanding in one of the following major specific minor NDT methods: UT Thickness, RT Level I, ET Acquisition

Ability utilizing a wide array of highly sophisticated, quality control inspection/ NDT techniques as well as utilizing many unique and specially designed precision instruments and gauges

Ability setting up and reading an oscilloscope to be able to understand ultrasonic testing on work being performed

Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity and skill to operate and manipulate complex robotic scanners, probe drivers and x-ray source positioners in both manual and automated modes

Ability to read and interpret complicated written technical material as instructions, TGI's, specifications, procedures, sketches and blueprints
