Responsibilities

Administering a complex law enforcement and physical security program
Managing a visitor services operation to include fee collection, special park uses, commercial services, visitation data collection, and campground management
Planning and managing wildland fire, structural fire, emergency medical services, emergency management, and search and rescue programs
Developing and managing the division's budget and managing the program's fleet, property, firearms, and equipment inventory
Performing the full range of supervisory and managerial duties

Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males
Direct Deposit: Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program
Financial Filer Requirement: The position to which you will be appointed is subject to a financial disclosure reporting requirement and you will be required to complete a new entrant Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE Form 450) within 30 days of your appointment
Travel: You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 3 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes
Government Charge Card: You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority
Minimum Age Requirement: This position is covered by enhanced retirement provisions which stipulate mandatory retirement at age 57 after 20 years of service. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and must not have reached their 37th birthday upon appointment to this position
Time-in-Grade: Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service)
Medical Certification: This position requires the incumbent meet the medical standards qualifications per DO/RM57, pre-employment and periodic physical examinations, and must participate in the Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB) annually
Drug Testing: You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use
Firearm Proficiency: Required to carry a firearm while performing duties, required to maintain firearm proficiency and be subject to the Lautenberg Amendment
Essential Personnel: This position has been designated 'Essential'. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations
Driver's License: Will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required
Uniform: You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided
Work Schedule: You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work
Type I Law Enforcement Commission: Must currently possess or previously held (within the past three years), a FLECT issued Land Management Police Training (LMPT), full Type I Law Enforcement Commission or equivalent; or be qualified to receive a Type I Commission upon appointment
Previous Law Enforcement Experience: Prior law enforcement experience, as gained by substantial service in a primary law enforcement officer position or equivalent experience outside the Federal government is a MANDATORY PREREQUISITE for incumbents of these positions
To qualify for this position at the GS-13 grade level, you must possess all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service
