Responsibilities

Architect, design, and lead the development of robust, scalable, and secure frontend applications for Questrade's retail crypto and alternatives trading platforms, establishing best practices and technical standards

Drive the technical strategy for expanding crypto infrastructure across various Questrade products, ensuring seamless integration, high performance, and future scalability

Lead the frontend development and launch of new crypto capabilities for clients and internal teams, from architectural design to deployment, with a focus on technical excellence and quality

Lead the architecture, build, and delivery of other new alternative trading products within the dedicated Growth Portfolio entity, actively identifying, vetting, and adopting emerging technologies

Provide expert-level support for all crypto trading and transfer solutions, mentoring the team on troubleshooting complex issues and ensuring system stability and reliability

Define the strategy for integrating with internal and external APIs (including RESTful and WebSocket APIs), ensuring long-term maintainability and performance

Lead and mentor a team of frontend engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and adoption of innovative development practices. Set the technical standards for the team

Champion initiatives to automate workflows, optimize system performance, and enhance development pipelines to boost team efficiency and accelerate delivery cycles

Own the diagnosis and resolution of the most complex technical issues, ensuring high availability and optimal performance of crypto and trading systems

Act as a key technical liaison, working closely with product owners, backend architects, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into cutting-edge, scalable technical solutions

Actively research, prototype, and champion the adoption of new trends and technologies in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space to maintain our competitive edge

Expertise in Angular and React Native is desired

Proven experience integrating common crypto platform vendors (hot wallets, custodians, execution management service, payment processors)

Deep experience in the financial services or FinTech industry

Expert knowledge of security best practices in blockchain and financial applications

Demonstrated experience leading the launch of new products from 0 to 1

Experience with backend technologies (e.g., C#, Java, Go, Python, Node.js) is a strong bonus

3-5+ years of experience in frontend software development, with a proven track record of architecting and building large-scale, resilient user interfaces

Expertise in multiple frontend web frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, VUE)

Extensive experience architecting and building highly interactive, responsive, and performant web and mobile applications

Deep understanding and application of object-oriented programming (OOP), SOLID principles, and other software design patterns

Proven experience designing and implementing microfrontend architectures

Expertise in consuming and designing contracts for RESTful and WebSocket APIs

Mastery of state management libraries and patterns at scale

Experience leading testing strategies and implementing robust unit, integration, and performance testing practices (e.g., Jest, Mira, Cypress)

Working experience with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure, AWS) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

Proven ability to architect complex, high-availability frontend systems with a focus on performance, security, and maintainability

Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a talent for resolving ambiguous and complex technical challenges

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical strategy to technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership

A strong leader and team player who excels in a collaborative environment and has a passion for mentoring and elevating the skills of the team

A self-starter with a strategic mindset and a relentless drive to deliver high-quality solutions and push technological boundaries

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. A Master's degree is a plus
