Responsibilities

Providing direct technical and administrative supervision to employees
Responsible for ensuring that employees are efficiently and effectively accomplishing quality work that is compliant with regulatory requirements and procedures, TJC standards, laws, and VHA C&P policies and requirements, as well as assuring implementation and accomplishment of the goals and objectives of the C&P Program
Identifying and presenting to leadership the resources necessary for accomplishing the mission and function of the facility's C&P program
Providing guidance to local leadership and C&P employees on all matters pertaining to the facility's C&P program
Attending committee meetings and presents providers' credentials, clinical practice histories and red flags
Serving as the primary consultant for the facility's C&P program; analyzes program audit results; interprets facility quarterly report card data; researches provider credentialing requirements; and identifies potential privileging issues
Coordinating with Service Chiefs and service level administrative teams for annual Committee(s) review of clinical privileges and scope of practice
Serving as the Point of Contact (POC) and SME (Subject Matter Expert) for credentialing updates, Human Resources, providers and hiring services
Monitoring and auditing the VAMC C&P program utilizing VetPro reports, mandatory auditing and reporting tools
Ensuring national level reporting requirements are accurately completed including, but not limited to, quarterly security reports, quarterly accuracy certification of the Our Provider's website, and accuracy of the VA/DoD shared provider registry
Monitoring C&P program resources to ensure programs are appropriately staffed
Serving as a liaison and partner with Human Resources Service programs for common program goals and issues including, but not limited to, provider onboarding, provider exit reviews and assessments, privileging actions, and guidance related to clinical performance concerns
Responsible for ensuring quality assurance in the facility's C&P program; applying organizational and system-wide strategies for continuous quality improvement as they relate to C&P processes and procedures
Serves as the administrator for the National Practitioner Data Bank, Federation of Medical Boards, and Our Providers Database

Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Health System Specialist
Qualifying specialized experience is defined as progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations
Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary. Occasionally, light physical effort may be required, such as that involved with walking, stair climbing, and carrying of light office items
