Professor in Sustainable Finance
The University of Ottawa is a prominent bilingual institution seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Sustainable Finance at the Telfer School of Management. The role involves teaching, conducting research, and supervising graduate students, with a focus on sustainable finance and related areas.

Responsibilities
Academic staff functions include, in varying proportions: teaching, scholarly activities such as research, artistic or literary creation, or professional work, academic service activities and, graduate student supervision
Teaching activities include: i) strengthening quality teaching activities; ii) having excellent pedagogical practices and teaching-related scholarly activities; iii) providing an active contribution to increase our graduate programs and interdisciplinarity and iv) supervising graduate students
Applications are invited from candidates with a proven strong capacity in securing competitive research funding, and who can maintain lofty standards of excellence with an active research agenda in the field of finance and especially sustainable finance and related areas such as climate finance, ESG investing, corporate social responsibility, and responsible investment practices
Supervise students in the Finance field of Telfer’s Doctorate in Management and in the Finance field of Telfer’s MSc in Management
The candidate will be an active member of the Accounting and Finance section. Administrative duties will be agreed upon with the section and the Dean
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in Finance or in a related discipline at the time of appointment or prior
A high-potential research program as demonstrated by articles published in high-quality and high-impact peer-reviewed finance journals
Demonstrate a track record of success in attracting competitive research funding
Active engagement in the academic community
Research expertise in all areas of finance, with preference for Sustainable Finance
Excellent communication skills in English
Passive knowledge of the other official language (French) is a requirement for tenure
Demonstrated ability to teach finance courses such as corporate finance, asset pricing, sustainable finance, or related courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels
Interest in contributing to strategic research and teaching initiatives in all areas of finance with preference for sustainable finance
Interest in collaborating with research centres such as the Centre for a Responsible Wealth Transition
Preferred
Strong ability to teach in both official languages (English and French)
Bilingualism (English-French) is an asset
The ability to teach in both English and French is preferred
