Senior Analyst / Junior Associate
GDA Luma is a private equity firm specializing in distressed-for-control debt and special situations investments. They are seeking a full-time Senior Analyst/Junior Associate to join their investment team, responsible for deal evaluation, execution, and portfolio management while supporting senior team members in fundraising and investor relations activities.

Responsibilities
Build, maintain, and audit detailed financial models including DCF / LBO models, cash flow projections, liquidation analyses, and capital structure modeling
Assist in the full lifecycle of investment execution, including preliminary assessments, valuation, structuring, diligence coordination, and closing processes
Lead workstreams during diligence, including thorough analysis of historical financials, forecasting, operational metrics, competitive positioning, digital and technology capabilities, legal and regulatory risks, and management skillsets
Coordinate with external advisors (legal, accounting, industry consultants) and third-party data providers
Perform deep, thematic industry research to identify high-potential sectors and subsectors vulnerable to disruption, dislocation, or balance sheet distress
Track macroeconomic indicators, credit markets, and restructuring trends to support top-down sourcing initiatives
Contribute to the firm’s proprietary deal sourcing efforts by researching distressed situations, reviewing databases such as advisor reports and news sources, and monitoring court filings
Track and analyze portfolio company performance on an ongoing basis and provide analytical support for strategic, operational, and financial initiatives
Assist in board reporting, KPI dashboards, covenant compliance reviews, and performance improvement projects
Monitor external information sources such as news, market trends, disruptions, and competitors to formulate a comprehensive perspective of the company’s positioning
Participate in internal knowledge sharing, process development, and investment committee preparation
Help improve the firm’s investment frameworks, templates, and analytical toolkits
Prepare fundraising and marketing materials including investor presentations, tailored analysis, and detailed responses for the onboarding of new limited partners and additional requests from current investors
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a quantitatively rigorous field (STEM backgrounds with relevant experience will also be considered)
1–2 years of experience in investment banking, restructuring advisory, leveraged finance, private equity, distressed credit, or a similarly demanding analytical role
Strong modeling skills with advanced Excel proficiency; experience with PowerPoint, financial databases (e.g., Capital IQ, PitchBook, Bloomberg), and court/restructuring data sources (e.g., Reorg/Octus, Epiq) is a plus
Familiarity with legal documentation including credit agreements, intercreditor agreements, and restructuring term sheets
Demonstrated ability to work through complex financial structures, distressed scenarios, and turnaround business models
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise investment memoranda and internal presentations
Intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with a high degree of professional maturity
Willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and take initiative without constant oversight
Must be based full-time in New York City or surrounding area and willing to work in an office setting
Preferred
Experience with bankruptcy/restructuring processes, distressed investing, or special situations
Passion for operational transformation and business turnarounds, with an understanding of how strategic, financial, and operational levers interplay
Entrepreneurial mindset with a long-term commitment to value investing and private equity
Ability to think independently, form a thesis, and support it with rigorous analysis and critical thinking
Proficiency in Spanish, German, and/or French is a plus
