Structural Engineer - Power Generation
WSP is one of the world's leading professional services firms focused on future-proofing cities and environments. They are seeking a Structural Engineer to support their Energy division, responsible for design criteria, engineering specifications, and project management in the energy sector.

Responsibilities
Establish design criteria, prepare engineering specifications, design calculations, material take offs (MTO) in accordance with project requirements
You’ll support the planning, scheduling, cost control activities in the design as related to the Project Plan
You’ll propose solutions for improving or optimizing processes, programs, and procedures. Assist in resolving complex problems requiring a comprehensive and detailed analysis and multi-disciplinary understanding
You’ll Contribute to knowledge transfer by providing functional guidance, coaching and peer review to the team’s less experienced professionals or to technicians
You’ll participates in the planning and implementation of large and complex projects requiring innovative solutions
You’ll Conducting on-site inspections as required
You’ll detailed civil and structural designs, which include concrete foundations, piling, steel structures etc
You’ll Prepare documentation for engineering hours budgets, schedules, work plans, tender documents, technical reports, project calculations etc
You’ll assign, give instructions and providing directions to technical support staff
You’ll establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and team members
You’ll ensure the Quality Assurance, consistency, and integrity of the electronic handover of deliverables
You’ll be responsible for reviewing and stamping drawings (as required); using experience in interpreting design codes and regulatory requirements
You’ll check work of and assist in the training of less experienced engineering personnel
You’ll communicate with internal peers and project team and may be required to answer questions regarding deliverables
Qualification
Required
A university degree in Structural Engineering (MSc or PhD would be an asset)
Registered as a P.Eng or PE in a Provincial Engineering Association in Canada or US
5+ years and over experience in the engineering of civil structural designs in energy industry
Ideally experience with power plants, dynamic foundations and/or rotating equipment
Working knowledge of software's like SAP2000, ETABS, S-Frame, STAAD Pro, Dyna6 etc
Good report writing skills
Familiarity with relevant design codes for Concrete and Steel Structures, and also current Industrial standards
Proficient in MS Office
A team player with strong communication and inter-personal skills
Solid organization and time management skills
Preferred
Experience with Python would be an asset
