Responsibilities
Solving intricate unit issues with deep technical insight
Leading impactful improvement projects that elevate performance
Providing expert reviews of process safety studies to uphold the highest standards
Mentoring and coaching, shaping the next generation of engineers through hands-on training and guidance
Participates on the unit Operations team
Proactively identifies issues prior to Operations impact
Leads troubleshooting efforts for complex unit problems
Organizes resolution of technical issues
Leads and/or participates in incident investigation teams
Interfaces with external organizations (e.g., Engineering, Technology)
Initiates, supports, and champions technically advanced solutions
Maintains key interfaces (e.g., EM networks, Research Institutes and Academia, key vendors and suppliers)
Provides technical reviews of special unit operations, unit operating changes / projects, and equipment strategies
Identifies unit improvement ideas to meet site initiatives (e.g., energy, reliability, cost)
Lead the development and implementation of larger improvement projects to support site initiatives
Provides technical reviews of process safety studies for the business unit (e.g., HAZOPs, SRRs, LOPAs)
Provides consulting on process safety for the unit
Shares safety learnings
Provides training and mentorship to other engineers
Supports the network and associated EM sites
Develops and expands technology via partnerships and developmental projects
Qualification
Required
B.S. (or higher) degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
5+ years of industry-related experience
Demonstrated design experience
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Capable of working independently and achieving high standards
Capable of working with and leading teams effectively
Mentor / role model for setting work standards and business ethics
Leadership skills to influence Operations team
Preferred
Experience in Petroleum Refining or Chemical industries or with an industry-adjacent contractor
Experience in offsites systems (e.g., flares, storage facilities, shipping, logistics, docks, pipeline)
Experience in Engineering support of Utilities operations in a plant manufacturing environment
