Linchpin Solutions, Inc. is seeking a dynamic and experienced Systems Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize complex server, network, and database environments. The role involves deploying and troubleshooting key infrastructure components, monitoring system performance, and providing Tier 2 support for escalated issues.
Responsibilities
Independently manage, maintain, and optimize complex server, network, and database environments as the sole Systems Administrator
Deploy, administer, and troubleshoot key infrastructure components including Windows Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, Microsoft Exchange, and both physical and virtual server systems
Diagnose and resolve advanced issues across hardware, software, storage, and enterprise applications while also providing Tier 2 support for escalated client/server and database problems
Monitor systems for performance, availability, and security, applying patches, upgrades, and corrective actions to ensure operational reliability
Design, configure, and manage databases—particularly SQL Server and SSRS—while also developing documentation, backup strategies, and recovery plans
Coordinate with external agencies or contractors during outages or issues beyond the demarcation point and produce clear technical documentation to support ongoing operations
Support planned and unplanned infrastructure changes, develop custom applications or scripts, and perform other duties as required

Active DoD Secret Clearance
Experience with Microsoft Office

Possess expert-level knowledge in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Windows Active Directory, Group Policy Objects and Domain Name Service (DNS)
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, including Windows Server 2008(R2) and Windows Server 2003
Strong experience in the deployment, administration, and troubleshooting of Microsoft Exchange environments, specifically Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2010
Skilled in assessing and applying vendor security patches and updates
Proficient with enterprise storage technologies such as Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS)
Experience with server performance optimization and use of monitoring tools
Competent in utilizing server configuration and management platforms, including Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
Solid network troubleshooting capabilities and foundational networking knowledge
Capable of producing clear and detailed technical documentation
Familiar with developing and executing action plans for both planned and unplanned changes to network infrastructure
Install, patch, upgrade, tune, optimize and repair hardware and software (including operating systems, applications and databases) to maintain optimal performance
O&M of equipment and/or systems up to and including their demarcation points, and shall coordinate with, and assist external entities (other governmental agencies or contractors) in troubleshooting beyond their demarcation point during outages and troubleshooting, as required
Establish a trend analysis program to ensure equipment, systems and services meet minimum operational availability, reliability and survivability requirements, (including backup and recovery of end-to-end systems
Monitor equipment and systems for indications of warnings, faults, alarm conditions and outages; and provide component and system fault isolation, diagnostics, troubleshooting and restoration services
Troubleshoot until the source of the condition, degradation or outage is identified, and implement corrective actions and repairs to restore affected equipment, systems or services to full operational capability
Design, write, modify and implement software programs/applications
Install, configure, operate, manage, troubleshoot, repair, upgrade, inspect and maintain server systems (physical and virtual), including administration of core and functional services
Manage and administer user accounts, profiles and access
Monitoring user access and adherence to established policies and procedures to ensure a secure operating environment
Provide Tier 2 technical support for more complex end-user client/server database issues, which cannot be resolved by the Tier 1 technical support staff
Plan, analyze, design, develop, install, troubleshoot, manage and administer databases to ensure overall system performance, quality, integrity and security
Perform database and application security patching, upgrades and enhancements
Install and integrate new and/or and customize existing applications; and create custom views, queries, reports and templates
Need to have SQL experiences especially SSRS (SQL Server Reporting services)
Develop and maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for database/data dictionaries
Administer and control database access permissions and privileges
Develop, test, execute and manage back-up and recovery plans
Perform database configuration, change and capacity management activities
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, OR An associate's degree plus seven (7) total years of recent specialized experience, OR a certification plus seven (7) years of recent specialized experience, OR eleven (11) total years of recent specialized experience
Must hold one (1) of the following certifications: Comptia Security+, CCNA, CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, CISSA, GCED, GCIH, or CCSP
Minimum of three 4 years of hands-on experience in Windows Server 2003 and Exchange 2003 systems administration
7-10 years of relevant work experience
Preferred
Consulting experience is a plus
