Responsibilities

Collecting, analyzing, interpreting, validating, reconciling, and reporting the College’s financial data
Applying policies and procedures, performing internal review of ledger account transactions, identifying discrepancies, resolving issues, developing job aids, and reporting unsolved issues to the Associate Controller
Serving as the subject matter expert for People Soft to Workday reconciliations
Coordinating the completion of the month-end PeopleSoft (PS) adjustment journals for the Controller’s Office and providing training to new team members on month-end PS entries
Serving as the primary contact with NSHE Workday team to resolve issues related to the integration between PS and Workday
Responsible for the assigned tasks for month-end close, year-end close, and annual audit schedules
Undertaking other tasks assigned, including assisting on special projects and serving on college committees
Maintaining consistent and reliable attendance, with some travel to other campuses/work sites and evening and weekend work, particularly during peak accounting and reporting cycles

Required

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field from an accredited college/university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience
3 years of full-time working experience in accounting, including reconciling, analyzing, and reporting financial data

Preferred

One or more years of working knowledge of fund accounting in higher education
Demonstrated experience in research and application of the knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the standards of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements or IRS codes
One year of full-time work experience with Workday Finance, PeopleSoft, or other RFP systems
