Senior LevelOuter Armor by Commercial Sewing is a growing marine & powersports manufacturer known for innovation. They are seeking a creative, hands-on engineer to lead the development of next-generation powered bimini systems, overseeing design, integration, testing, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
Own the engineering and development of self-booting powered bimini systems—from concept through production
Design mechanical and electromechanical assemblies that withstand real-world marine and off-road environments
Lead improvements in system motion, actuation, reliability, and user experience
Collaborate with fabrication, electronics, and manufacturing teams to bring your designs to life
Test and validate components and systems for durability, weather resistance, and performance
Work directly with suppliers and OEM partners on integration and product requirements
Troubleshoot field issues, drive product enhancements, and implement design upgrades
Support new patents, new features, and entirely new product variations
Serve as a technical expert for the product line, helping shape future generations of automated top systems
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
Strong mechanical design skills (3D CAD, mechanisms, linkages, structures)
Hands-on aptitude in prototyping, testing, and working with suppliers
Understanding of actuators, automation, sensors, or electromechanical systems a plus
Experience in marine, powersports, outdoor products, automation, or similar industries is highly valued
Creative problem-solving mindset and a desire to bring bold ideas to market
Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and collaborate across teams
Passion for building products people actually use
Preferred
Metal fabrication knowledge (welding, machining, forming)
Experience with motion systems, motors, or kinematics
Understanding of marine environments, corrosion, sealing, or IP ratings
Familiarity with stitching, textiles, or soft goods engineering
