They are seeking experienced ODOT Prequalified Asphalt Lab Technicians to conduct material testing, maintain equipment, and ensure quality control for infrastructure projects in the Cincinnati area.

Responsibilities
Conduct standardized tests on asphalt and aggregate samples to determine properties like specific gravity, air voids, and gradation
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory testing equipment to ensure accurate results
Prepare and submit detailed test reports, often using Microsoft Excel, to communicate findings to relevant personnel
Ensure that materials meet the quality standards and specifications set by ODOT and project requirements
Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Collect, prepare, and organize samples of asphalt, aggregates, and other construction materials
Perform some field testing, such as density checks on newly paved sections, and assist engineers as needed
Qualification
Required
A High School Diploma or GED is typically required
ODOT-specific certifications are often mandatory, including ODOT Asphalt Concrete School levels 1 and 2, Aggregate certification levels 1 and 2, and an ACI Concrete Strength Testing certificate
Familiarity with relevant standards like ASTM and AASHTO is crucial
Knowledge of specific testing equipment such as the NCAT ignition oven
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Must be willing to accommodate project schedules and work outside and inside
