Sarasota County Government is expanding its Public Utilities department, which services a large number of water and sewer connections. The Sr. Project Manager will oversee large-scale utility operations projects, ensuring successful management of complex engineering and construction initiatives.

Responsibilities

Manage and lead large-scale, multi-million-dollar technical projects within the utility operations unit

Oversee multiple complex projects simultaneously and be capable of making critical operational decisions

Assist in managing design and construction contracts to ensure engineers, contractors, and consultants meet obligations and GMP standards

Assist in developing, troubleshooting and maintaining county SCADA system for water and wastewater plants

Develop and maintain project timelines, cost estimates, and monitor CIP project expenditures

Track project progress, prepare progress reports, and reviews payment requests

Initiate, authorize, and oversee scope change requests

Coordinate and evaluate work across cross-functional teams, including engineers, inspectors, and operational staff

Provide leadership to project teams and assist in resolving disputes and technical issues

Ensure adherence to design standards and coordinates permitting and on-site problem resolution

Required

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Engineering, Project Management, or related field AND seven (7) years of related project management experience

A Master's degree in a related field AND six (6) years of job-related experience

Related project experience can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis depending on the type of experience

A Valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire

Preferred

Comprehensive experience in design, construction, and contract administration

Supervisory experience of large utility projects, design and implementation of SCADA systems

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification through the Project Management Institute

Experience in PLC programming, process control system architecture, HMI configuration, SCADA Network design, and P&IDs
