Microbiology and Synthetic Biology Technologist (Temporary)

The Temporary Microbiology and Synthetic Biology Technologist will be responsible for designing and conducting experiments, training students, and maintaining lab equipment while contributing to the goal of engineering improved microbial strains for sustainability.

Responsibilities
Design experiments with supervision, consult with the PI on experimental design, carry out experiments, make observations, record and analyze data
Summarize and report findings in presentations and project reports for the PI
Train undergraduate and rotating graduate students on lab procedures
Ensure lab equipment is maintained
Maintain university and lab policies
Participate in outreach activities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, chemistry or a related field plus two years' research experience in basic molecular biology (DNA/RNA analysis, PCR, DNA cloning, gel electrophoresis), biochemistry (protein purification, spectroscopy, enzyme assays, HPLC)
Additional years of completed relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis
Willingness to learn new techniques
Preferred
MS or PhD in relevant field preferred but not required
