Responsibilities
Conceptualize, design, and develop mechanical housings for optical networking products using PTC’s Creo software
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand all aspects of the project requirements and to ensure they are successfully achieved
Create detailed design drawings and 3D models
Help perform design validation tests, root cause analysis, and troubleshoot issues to optimize product design
Perform thermal analysis and simulations using Ansys Icepak software
Communicate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure smooth production and address design-related issues
Ensure compliance with MSA standards (e.g., QSFP-DD, OSFP) and mechanical interface specifications for data center environments
Define tooling, fixtures, and assembly instructions for precise optical and mechanical builds in collaboration with global vendors and suppliers
Work with suppliers and vendors for component selection and procurement
Ensure systems comply with safety and regulatory standards
Manage project timelines and milestones effectively
Stay updated with industry trends, advancements in technology, and best practices in product design to improve system performance
Qualification
Required
B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Opto-Mechanical Engineering, or related field
7+ years of experience in optical networking (open line systems, optical terminals, and pluggable optics) or related hardware
Familiarity with mechanical reliability testing (shock, vibration, thermal cycling)
Proven experience in using Creo software for product design and development and other engineering software
Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and concepts
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
Good communication and interpersonal skills
