Electrical Safety Design Engineer

Responsibilities
Lead and participate in safety reviews and discussions for engineering design projects, including multidisciplinary efforts
Develop, analyze, and review safety documentation such as RSARs (Range Safety Analysis Reports), SAAs (Safety Assessment Analyses), and SSRAs (System Safety and Reliability Checklists)
Identify and evaluate hazards in mechanical designs, propose mitigations, and ensure safety compliance throughout the design lifecycle
Support the development and maintenance of safety engineering products and documentation within systems such as KDDMS
Prepare and present technical evaluations, safety documentation, and risk assessments to management and customers
Mentor junior engineers in safety analysis techniques, documentation development, and hazard identification processes
Support schedule development, cost estimating, and project planning activities for assigned projects
Ensure all designs align with applicable standards and procedures, including KSC-DE-512-SM, NASA-STD-8719.9, HSEPs, JSOG Forms, and related operating procedures
Qualification
Required
BS in Engineering or technical equivalent and 4 years of experience
Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication
Must be dependable and punctual
Must comply with all 'drug free workplace' requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions
Government security clearance may be required in the future
Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management
