They are seeking a Senior Counsel/Associate General Counsel to provide legal and tax advice regarding life insurance and annuity products, manage legal risks, and collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance and best practices.

Responsibilities

Provide quality legal services on a timely and cost-efficient basis

Provide legal and tax advice to business partners regarding life insurance and annuity products issues by the company, along with providing guidance to support the proper administration of the products

Provide counsel on legal and tax regulatory requirements, corporate policies and procedures, best practices, and strategies for managing risk

Analyze business plans and initiatives to identify legal risks, advise business partners on risk mitigation and best practices

Partner with Operations management in identifying and containing legal risks and developing best practices

Provide timely tax advice and guidance on day-to-day legal issues and projects involving new business, inforce administrations and claim processing

Collaborate with other attorneys including operations, distribution, product and litigation and other staff within legal and compliance

Utilization of artificial intelligence tools and resources (e.g. generative AI)

Required

8-10 years of experience required: Law firm, governmental or administrative agency and/or insurance or financial services company

Advanced degree required: JD from ABA accredited law school

Licensed to practice in Minnesota or active member in good standing with a state bar with the ability to be admitted in Minnesota within 6 months of start date
