Responsibilities
Prepare sterile media using autoclaves, media claves, Sterilize in Place (SIP) reactors and other sterilization technologies
Weigh, sterilize, and dispense media into various containers (plates, flasks, bottles) using automated liquid handlers and peristaltic pumps, following SOPs and job aids
Apply sterile and aseptic handling techniques throughout all processes
Perform quality checks on prepared media, including streaking plates, measuring pH, and inspecting for contamination via microscopy
Monitor inventory levels and order necessary chemicals and consumables
Identify, flag, and assist in troubleshooting process deviations and contamination events
Participate in projects aimed at enhancing laboratory operations and efficiency – these include better tracking of lab metrics, more efficient data capture and visualization and assisting in meeting mid- and long-term operational efficiency goals for the lab
Qualification
Required
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field is required
Self-motivated, able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Preferred
Experience with aseptic techniques (e.g., pipetting sterile media, pouring agar plates, working in biosafety cabinets or laminar flow hoods)
Proficiency with MS Excel; experience with statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP)
