Content and Promotions Assistant

The University of New Mexico is seeking a Content and Promotions Assistant to support the YMCA of Central New Mexico's mission through creative design and community engagement. This role involves creating marketing materials, managing social media content, and engaging with the community to promote YMCA programs and events.

Responsibilities

Design visually engaging marketing materials including flyers, banners, digital ads, social media graphics, and print collateral that align with YMCA brand standards
Capture and edit photo and video content for use on social media, website, and digital campaigns
Create and schedule posts across YMCA social media platforms to promote programs, events, and impact stories
Utilize Canva and Adobe Photoshop (with knowledge of Illustrator, Premiere Pro, or similar tools a plus) to produce professional-quality assets for print and digital use
Collaborate with staff and program directors to generate meaningful content that highlights member stories, staff achievements, and community impact
Canvas nearby neighborhoods and local businesses to distribute materials, encourage partnerships, and increase awareness of YMCA programs and services
Host and staff YMCA pop-up booths, fairs, and community events to engage the public and invite them to become members
Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, and local partners to expand promotional reach
Serve as a brand ambassador, communicating the YMCA’s mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all interactions
Coordinate with the marketing and membership teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all channels
Track outreach activities, social engagement, and campaign results to report measurable outcomes
Assist with planning and execution of YMCA events, campaigns, and special projects
Other duties as assigned

MUST have a Work-Study Award
Background Check Required

Preferred

Minimum 1 year of experience in graphic design or marketing production
Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Photoshop (Illustrator and InDesign experience a plus)
Strong eye for design, typography, and layout composition
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable speaking with individuals and groups
Outgoing personality with the ability to represent the YMCA mission and values in the community
Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license and auto insurance to travel to local outreach sites
Possess a positive and professional attitude
Be familiar with the mission statement and core values of the YMCA. Model the core values while working and communicating with other staff
A willingness to commit to the mission of the YMCA
Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies
