Responsibilities
Perform professional engineering duties related to projects concerned with new or rehabilitated roads, bridges, railroads, airport structures, materials, waterways and roads
Select, from a wide variety of alternatives, the most efficient and effective plan of work
Report to a Professional Engineer 2 or higher level staff for a group of complex projects which are related by location or by type
Recommend construction or rehabilitation projects
Determine sequencing of phases of projects
Review and approve estimates, specifications, reports and offering plans and contract changes through the life of the project
Provide technical advice to engineers, legal staff, consultants and department or institution contract management and budget representatives on the financial, structural, or construction requirements of projects
Serve a role within the Incident Command System to support the Department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations
Qualification
Required
A New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed below
A New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience as listed below
One year of full-time engineering experience with transportation projects related to highways/roadways, railroads, bridges, airports, waterways, building structures, or traffic management and safety systems
A New York State Professional Engineer's License and current registration AND be a qualified employee of New York State AND have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows: Assistant Engineer (Civil/Transportation)
Your required educational credentials must have been awarded by an educational institution accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States (U.S.) Department of Education/Secretary of Education
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Candidates selected for appointment must provide an original document to prove their citizenship and/or legal right to work in the United States
