Responsibilities

Develop and apply models of performance (mechanical, thermal, optical, acoustic, reliability, energy) of glass panes, glass laminates, insulated glazing units (IGUs), windows, and doors to:
Assess applicability of Corning Enlighten Glass to specific use cases
Articulate and quantify Corning product technical advantage in use-case specific circumstances (market location, building characteristics, product line…) on laminates, IGU’s and buildings
Troubleshoot customer performance or manufacturing issues
Leverage Corning Modeling and Computing capability group as needed to resolve technical hurdles
Work closely with the product line team to define and communicate the product value prop, both internally and externally
Organize internal and external data collection to improve model accuracy or support performance claims
Represent Advanced Windows technology at North American industry associations to increase Corning product visibility and limit adoption barriers
Work with Corning Global Standards group in revising regulatory standards to facilitate use of ultra-thin glass
Lead the engagement with external entities offering architectural performance modeling to integrate Corning Enlighten Glass in their databases
Develop tools to facilitate and accelerate customer engagement and train the Advanced Windows team to use them
Participate in application development for programs other than Advanced Windows

Required

Master's degree or Doctorate in Physics, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or related discipline
Minimum 2 years of experience in thermo-mechanical modeling
Strong communication skills
Proven ability to work collaboratively within teams and across functions

Preferred

Experience or exposure to civil engineering or construction industry
Proficiency in generating CAD drawings
Demonstrated expertise in finite element analysis modeling
