Responsibilities
Perform structural inspections regarding the following structural elements: concrete masonry units (CMU), cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, post-tension cables, precast/prestress members, structural steel, and wood framing
Ability to read/understand structural plans and specifications
Report data in a complete, timely, and understandable fashion
Follow all company safety procedures and policies
Perform forensic investigations to determine the cause and origin of damage to residential and commercial buildings and provide detailed forensic engineering reports outlining the cause and origin of damage
Research technical publications and literature in support of evaluations, and apply engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standards
Manage multiple projects and assume responsibility for project execution within timeframes
Communicate with administrative staff and clients to provide timelines and project updates on a consistent basis
Prepare structural calculations by hand and using structural engineering software
Prepare structural drawings using AutoCAD
Other duties may be assigned
Qualification
Required
Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
Ability to climb ladders and conduct inspections at heights, in attics and crawlspaces. You will be required to kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally
Ability to solve practical problems and to effectively communicate. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering (Structural Emphasis)
E.I. (Engineering Intern) or able to obtain within six months after hiring by passing the FE Exam
Preferred
Internship experience in structural engineering
Experience in AutoCAD
