Carvana, through its subsidiary ADESA, operates over 50 locations across the US and offers a wide range of vehicle services. As a Mechanic Tech, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic repairs and maintenance on customer vehicles in a high production mechanic shop.

Responsibilities

Flush system contaminants, evacuate system, add oil and charge with freon
Run OEM performance tests and verify performance, utilize electrical schematics, identify, and correct related problems
Diagnose, and repair all systems and related problems
Diagnose brake problems, replace cylinders and calipers, perform failure analysis of components
Diagnose, and repair all systems and related problems, including set up and use of on car brake lathe
Perform full diagnostic, including in-depth analysis and corrections
Perform failure analysis for premature or abuse
Check and adjust coolant levels, antifreezes (and requirements)
Visually inspect system for leaks, Make minor repairs such as hose replacements, fan shrouds, fittings
Pressure test, Flush and refill systems
Analyze to identify root cause
Evaluate lighting system configuration and application
Diagnose, isolate, and repair difficult lighting system problems, such as shorted and open circuits
Replace entire lighting harness, lamp assembly and/or control modules on power units
Inspect housing for leaks, perform diagnostics and major repairs as required
Lubricate, perform diagnostics, fluid and filter changes and major repairs or replacement as required on manual and automatic transmissions, differentials, transfer cases and 4x4 or AWD systems
Check and adjust oil level, identify unusual noises and oil leaks
Diagnose and perform major repairs or services as required including engine replacement
Diagnose all fuel system malfunctions, adjust fuel system components
Repair and replace fuel system components including injectors
Perform diagnostics of electrical systems utilizing wiring diagrams and schematics to trace and repair electrical concerns
Use continuity testing, voltage drop, amp draw, short circuit and parasitic draw tests to trace and repair harness issues or identify module failures
Full fault code identification and service interval reset
Diagnose and repair steering
Disassemble, diagnose and repair/replace steering gear boxes and steering racks
Diagnose suspension noises and alignment concerns
Maintain, repair, and replace all chassis components, perform failure analysis and substantiate premature failure
Repair and replace tires, wheels and TPMS components including sensor programming
Properly diagnose and repair the cause of improper wear conditions
Track and record vehicle information following department processes
Assist in overall general shop duties such as cleaning, driving, organizing vehicle parking and staging, etc
Provide prompt and courteous service to internal and external customers
Maintain a professional appearance and neat work environment
Practice and promote teamwork at all times
Set a good personal example of attitude and performance

Required

3 to 5 years of experience in automotive repair field
Proficient diagnostic skills
Proficient in brake, tire and wheel, a/c, battery charge and check
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Basic computer skills
Effective interpersonal skills
Hardworking, motivated team player
Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license that meets the requirements
Able to safely drive a variety of make/model/sizes of vehicles
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance

Preferred

High School diploma or GED preferred
Certifications A-4, A-5 and A-7 plus Certifications A-2 or A-3 preferred with progress toward obtaining certifications during the first year in role
