TRANSITION READINESS PROGRAM ADVISOR

Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! The Transition Readiness Program Advisor performs a full range of career coaching duties and advisement to assist military members transitioning to civilian life, focusing on employment, education, and vocational programs.

Responsibilities

Perform a full range of career coaching duties and advisement in the areas of employment, education, vocational/technical programs, and credentialing
Assist in the development of plans for current and projected programs to achieve goals and objectives
Collect, verify, and adjust data from diverse sources and perform qualitative analysis
Prepare reports and input for budgets
Research information on local and national career, education and/or recruitment processes and standards, and labor market trends and produce supporting materials for distribution to clients
Organize special events, such as job and career fairs and facilitate and/or support all other assigned activities and events
Promote awareness of the programs through targeted outreach efforts, including marketing campaigns, informational sessions, and networking events, aimed at increasing visibility and understanding of the available services
Utilize and maintain systems of outreach strategies and community partnerships in an effort to ensure widest utilization of programs, standard operating procedures, and methods of technology-based service delivery models
Assist in the establishment and maintenance of relationships with corporate industry personnel, small businesses, local chambers of commerce, state employment services, universities, and private employment agencies to develop a network of potential employment opportunities for clients
Collaborate with employers to cultivate job opportunities, foster strategic partnerships and professional relationships to assist clients in achieving their professional goals
Maintain continuous communication with military members to assist with their completion of the Transition Readiness Seminar (TRS) requirements in support of their post-separation goals as well as Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) leadership and management, branches of the DoD, external agencies and inter-agency partners, academic institutions, and nonprofit organizations to collaborate and provide continuity of services through referrals and warm handovers and to support activities
Execute HQMC established data collection, reporting processes and procedures
Document and report services provided, and support rendered
Support program evaluation efforts; participate in the Inspector General of the Marine Corps¿ (IGMC) Comprehensive Command Inspections (CCI), prepare reports, after- action requirements, and follow-on support for all assigned unit-level inspections through the Commanding General's Inspection Program (CGIP)
Recommend corrective actions and support follow-up inspections
Support and participate in the Marine Corps Family Program (MCFP) Certification; participate in MCFP Certification interviews and observations as requested
Evaluate and interpret data to identify and clarify issues and concerns; conduct, organize, and provide program analysis to ensure functional needs are met for programs and services

Required

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Counseling, Business or Human Resource Management or related field is required
Minimum of three years' experience directly related to career planning, employment services, or direct advisement of students
Expert ability to communicate effectively and professionally in writing and in person with various levels of technical, professional, management and administrative personnel
Must also have skills to organize and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
Expert ability to work independently and follow through on assigned tasks
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact, diplomacy, emotional intelligence, confidentiality, and overall professionalism
Must be able to incorporate and rapidly adapt to changing facets, priorities, and procedures
Comprehensive knowledge of the administrative laws, policies, regulations, and precedents applicable to the administration of the career services
In depth knowledge of IGMC functional area checklist process and execution
Highly proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software suites
Knowledge of management and automated information systems, and software applications
Knowledge of personal and professional development requirements and program execution
Expert ability to ascertain needs from clients and provide appropriate guidance
Knowledge and experience of career coaching, career development and advising techniques to support reintegration, education, and workforce development of clients
Ability to interpret self-assessment results and determine client compatibility and requirements for post-transition goals
Ability to understand workforce standards and labor market trends
Ability to collect, evaluate, and disseminate information and assess and measure the organizations' and other serviced populations' trends, concerns, and needs
Thorough knowledge of employment matters and principles
Knowledge of and expert ability to evaluate, plan, and deliver training in both classroom and online settings to a wide variety of audiences
Knowledge of and ability to use current education practices in career advisement
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
Must possess the Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) credential, through the National Career Development Association, or ability to obtain and maintain credential within two years of employment

Preferred

Master's degree is highly preferred
