Pension Services Analyst

Responsibilities

The trainee is expected to become proficient in the following area:
Qualified Domestic Relations Orders, which requires recognizing a model or non-model order and review of pre-application eligible model orders
Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and the Retirement Equity Act (REA), including responsibilities for processing inquiries, appeals and domestic relations orders within the time limits imposed by these Federal Regulations
The Fund's Processing Procedures for Domestic Relations Orders include responsibilities for processing domestic relations orders per these procedures
The Fund's Appeals Processing Procedures include processing and analyzing appeals per these procedures, writing appeal acknowledgment letters, and basic appeal briefs
Verifies inquiries have been accurately indexed in records database workflow
Responds to correspondence inquiries from Plan Participants, Pensioners, U.A. Local Unions, and attorneys regarding members' status, eligibility requirements, and other general questions related to the Plan Rules and procedures
Calculates eligible pension credits from submitted earnings data, Hours Summary File and local union merger records as appropriate. Makes any necessary request to members, local unions, or other Fund departments for updating or correcting data
Calculates pension credit for less complex local plan merger cases
Calculates estimated pension amounts and options under the National Pension Plan and Local Union Pension Plan Rules
Manages and tracks a high volume of correspondence from external and internal sources
Process relevant document requests
Writes correspondence regarding Divorce Decrees, Separation Agreements, and other marital-related documents submitted to the Fund
Produces high-quality documentation that meets the applicable Fund's standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
Assists Pension Services Analyst II-IV with appeal acknowledgments, a compilation of relevant document requests, and preparing appeals packages

Required

College degree or one year of related work experience
Must have a professional and positive attitude with a customer service focused approach
