DISTINGUISHED SCIENTIST/ENGINEER FOR COMBAT CONTROL
USAJOBS is seeking a Distinguished Scientist/Engineer for Combat Control who is an expert in control system theory and deterministic control for large scale integrated systems. The incumbent will serve as the Navy's expert in combat systems, particularly in combat control elements, and will be recognized nationally and internationally for their expertise in combat control systems including sensors, signal processing, and weapon system design.

Responsibilities
You will be Naval Sea Systems Command's Senior Scientist and leading technologist in the field of shipboard and netted combat control systems and represents the Navy at both the national and international level
You will interface with academia, industry, DoD and Science and Technology organizations to investigate fundamental scientific issues underpinning advanced control theory
You will develop innovative technical approaches for new concepts and development programs related to combat control systems
You will be responsible for providing technical oversight and collaborative guidance in integrated combat systems across Navy labs, industry, and academia
You will lead independent and collaborative research efforts supporting this critical area
You will undertake pioneering assignments of outstanding scope, difficulty, and complexity in unexplored or unyielding areas of investigation extending existing theory or methodology in order to make significant original contributions
Qualification
Required
Must be a US Citizen
Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

Your resume should demonstrate accomplishments that would satisfy the technical qualifications
TQ 1. A nationally recognized, world-class scientist or engineer with expert knowledge of combat control systems including sensors, signal processing, weapon system design and supporting technologies with specialty in control system theory and deterministic control for large scale integrated systems
TQ 2. Incumbent must have demonstrated the ability to formulate and guide a technology based, systematic attack on large, complex problems containing technical and operational issues
Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher engineering degree from an accredited college or university
Successful completion of a degree in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics
Successful completion of a degree in mathematics or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics
Successful completion of a degree in computer science or degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science
