Underwriting Governance & Controls Quality Lead, Americas

The Underwriting Governance & Controls Quality Lead will support the Head of Underwriting Governance & Controls by ensuring timely and accurate management information, overseeing the quality review process, and ensuring compliance with internal and external governance standards.

Responsibilities
Work with Americas underwriting leaders to ensure effective governance and controls
Implement a sound control environment by leveraging good practices, common processes and technology (collaborating with Global CUO’s, GIO etc.)
Co-ordinate with underwriting teams, Global CUOs and 2nd and 3rd lines of defense (e.g. Risk Management, Internal audit) to learn lessons and continuously improve business processes and controls (first line of defense) across all applicable products and functions
Maintain the first line of defense framework and processes to ensure compliance with underwriting governance and controls
Support the Americas Head of Underwriting Governance & Controls by preparing communication materials for the respective governance committees and meetings
Focused on the individual underwriting unit performance and compliance with UW controls set by GCUO and the Americas Segment Leaders
Leverages common processes and technology to drive efficiency and simplicity across products and functions, and where applicable across regions (in collaboration with Global CUO and GIO)
Oversight of the quality review process, identification of thematic actions, and developing remediation recommendations
Monitor and produce regular reports around KPIs
Produce regular dashboards and scorecards to measure performance against governance and controls
Qualification
Required
Extensive Underwriting and/or Audit and/or Underwriting Operations experience
Good understanding of Americas underwriting regulatory and governance requirements
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
Robust knowledge of underwriting operations
Project management experience
Robust written and verbal communication skills
