Operator Telecom Drill Bores
TCS Communications, LLC is focused on building essential fiber and telecom networks. The Telecom Drill Bore Operator will be responsible for safely and accurately installing underground communications infrastructure using Horizontal Directional Drilling equipment.

Responsibilities
Read plans, maps, and locate marks to plan & follow the proper bore path
Identify and avoid underground utilities using locating equipment and potholing methods
Safely operate HDD drill rigs, mud systems, vac trucks, and related equipment
Mix and manage drilling fluids (mud), adjusting for soil and bore conditions
Track drill head and maintain line, grade, and depth throughout the bore
Complete pilot bores and pull-back operations for conduit installation
Maintain a daily bore log and production schedule with accuracy
Set up job sites including traffic control, safety barriers & equipment staging
Restore work areas after completion and ensure clean, safe, and organized sites
Perform routine equipment checks, minor maintenance, and report any mechanical issues
Communicate clearly with the locator, ground crew, and supervisor to maintain safety and production
Work outdoors year-round in varying weather, terrain, and jobsite conditions
Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and utility industry standards
Assist crew members with related tasks to keep the project moving
Other duties as required to support successful bore operations
Qualification
Required
Must be 18 years or older
Ability to pass pre-employment screenings
High School Diploma or GED required; equivalent field experience considered
Valid state driver's license (non-provisional) with a clean driving record
Class A CDL with tanker endorsement, or willingness to obtain within company timeframe
Hands-on experience operating Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) equipment, including drill setup, tooling selection, mud systems, and pullback procedures
Working knowledge of utility locating equipment, reading utility prints, and potholing to verify existing utilities
Familiarity with safe trenching, digging, traffic control, and underground construction practices
Ability to work outdoors in all weather and field conditions and perform physically demanding tasks including bending, climbing, standing, and lifting 55+ lbs
Comfortable working in confined spaces, remote site locations, and around heavy equipment
Strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work safely as part of a field crew
Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, and travel as project needs require
