Mechanic I, II, III
NEOGOV is a part of the City of Gainesville, GA, and they are seeking skilled mechanics for the Vehicle Services division. The role involves performing complex repairs and maintenance on a variety of vehicles and equipment, ensuring they are operational and safe for public use.

Responsibilities
Performs complex skilled mechanic work in repairing and overhauling chassis units including automobile engines (regular and electronic ignition systems), brakes systems (drum, disc, and air systems) alternator charging systems, differentials, air conditioning and electrical systems
Performs routine scheduled preventive maintenance on vehicles, including tune-ups, changing oil and filters, changing air filters, mount, balancing, and rotating tires
Perform routine transmission fluid checks and services
Performs complex skilled mechanic work on Police Cars, Fire Apparatus, and Transit Buses (Public Works only)
Adjusts and relines brakes and maintains hydraulic systems and electrical systems
Operates test equipment in detecting mechanical defects in equipment. Make decisions determining repair or replacement of defective units or related parts
Customize vehicles to include removing, installing, and or repairing specialty equipment
Repair various specialty equipment, air compressors, pneumatic accessories, pumps, and related machinery and small equipment
Travel to job sites to diagnose and/or repair equipment; tows equipment to shop as needed
Conduct inspections, road test vehicles, complete and sign work orders, clean work area
Mechanic II and III will perform more heavy line and extensive diagnostic duties including but not limited to overhauls of internal vehicles and equipment systems, such as engines, transmissions, and drivetrains on light to heavy duty vehicles
Employee is subject to recall and/or mandatory overtime for emergency situations
Performs other related duties as required
This position requires to be part of an 'On Call' rotation to respond to emergency calls after hours (Public Works only)
Qualification
Required
High School or vocational school diploma or G.E.D. supplemented with training in auto mechanics
Six months automotive or heavy truck/equipment experience
Valid Class B CDL Driver's License (or ability to get within 12 months) and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (Public Works only)
A/C Recycle Recovery Certificate within 90 days of becoming Mechanic II
Employee is subject to recall and/or mandatory overtime for emergency situations
This position requires to be part of an 'On Call' rotation to respond to emergency calls after hours (Public Works only)
Will qualify for Mechanic II if the following conditions are met: Two years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment and vehicles
Will qualify for Mechanic III if the following conditions are met: Five years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment and vehicles
Preferred
ASE Certification Preferred
Obtainment of 4 ASE certifications OR any combination of verifiable industry or manufacturer specific certifications will be considered, at the department's discretion
Refrigerant License within 90 days of becoming a Mechanic III
