Energetics Technician Specialist

Battelle is a research and development organization that provides critical services for various clients. They are seeking an Energetics Technician Specialist to support technical experiments on energetic materials, conduct analyses, and manage material handling operations.

Responsibilities

Uses ability as a specialist and applies job skills and applicable policies and procedures to complete a wide range of routine and nonroutine tasks. Provides input into reports and letters for Project Managers as appropriate. May have participate in written and/or oral presentations to clients
Works on assignments that are complex in nature where judgment, creativity, and initiative are required in assessing problems and making recommendations
Provides input to Project Managers on time and staff resources. Trains and guides less experienced in staff on specific tasks. Provides input to performance reviews as requested. May act as a working leader by assigning and reviewing work to less experienced staff
Performs moderately complex analysis to verify the accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of project work. Identifies ways to control and/or reduce fixed costs without negatively impacting client expectations. Contributes to technical planning including recommending and implementing improved methods for new approaches. Makes recommendations for capital purchases and may be responsible for equipment and facility oversight
Completes complex tasks under minimal supervision. Reports observations/problems clearly and concisely recognizing and highlighting specific deviations
Demonstrates the ability to solve complex problems. Exhibits technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills

Required

High School Diploma
Proficient in using Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Minimum 7 years' work experience
Must be a US Citizen
Ability to obtain a government security clearance, post hire
Sufficient medical fitness to work in the laboratory and in the field to perform assigned duties including working in test chambers, test ranges, munitions bunkers and field environments
Ability to work in a team environment and independently
Must be able to wear the SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus)

Preferred

Associate's degree
Experience working with hazardous materials and processes, or thermodynamic and high energy events
Small arms handling, modification, armoring, gunsmithing
Experience in some of the following: welding, fabrication, woodworking, plumbing, electronics, power hand tools, forklift operation
