Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. The Project Leader will support construction efforts for critical security upgrade projects, managing project scope, schedule, and budget while collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Security
Responsibilities
Assures safety and security compliance, maintains required safety and security training, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security
Manages all aspects of assigned project(s) scope and is responsible for successful completion of the scope within schedule and budget baseline
Applies knowledge and experience in developing project plans and detailed work breakdown structures, negotiating work packages, and assigning various aspects of work to complete project deliverables
Negotiates with program and line managers to ensure that resources are available to accomplish the work, to identify procurement and contracting needs, and to marshal resources to complete project deliverables within the scope, schedules, and budgets defined in project work packages
Under direction of the Project Manager, monitors performance and manages, under change control, the project scope, schedule, budget, and baselines
Integrates project work with other Laboratory priorities and commitments, including safety, security, environmental compliance, quality, contractor assurance, and business imperatives
Identifies potential project risks, developing risk mitigation strategies and corrective actions, and recommending risk acceptance/avoidance for all aspects of the project(s)
Understands and adheres to all Laboratory and regulatory guidance and governance specific to the project work

Working knowledge of the discipline of the assigned project
Working knowledge of regulatory and Laboratory requirements related to the assigned project
Experience in developing and nurturing effective internal customer relationships
Experience working with subcontracted suppliers and support personnel
Experienced ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts to completion
Experienced ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel; building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
Preferred
Working knowledge of the technical and operational execution of Line-Item Project delivery
Experience as a Subcontract Technical Representative (STR) or another similar role providing oversight of government contracts
Experience developing and executing project plans from concept through completion, including strategic planning and partnership coordination
Active DOE Q and SCI clearances
