Catholic Charities Diocese of Des Moines is a longstanding organization dedicated to providing help and hope for those in need. They are seeking a compassionate Shelter Assistant to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault by providing advocacy, resources, and crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

Provide direct support and crisis intervention to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children residing in the shelter

Assist with the intake process for new residents, ensuring their immediate needs are met

Collaborate with shelter staff to create a safe and supportive living environment for residents

Conduct safety assessments and develop safety plans with residents

Facilitate support groups and educational workshops on topics related to domestic violence and sexual assault

Maintain accurate records and documentation of services provided

Participate in regular staff meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions
