SLD Vehicle Fluids Test Engineer III

Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. The SLD Vehicle Fluids Test Engineer III will support the Lunar Permanence team in developing lunar landers and ensuring the verification of vehicle fluid and thermal systems through testing and analysis.

Responsibilities

Develop test plans and procedures for vehicle level development, test beds, and qualification testing
Lead daily test operations, test consoles, direct technician work, and coordinate with internal and external customers
Work with the design and systems engineers to plan tests of the vehicle fluid and thermal systems, ensuring the tests are designed to verify the appropriate requirements
Design, procure, and install test support equipment; manage vendors and subcontractors
Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing
Reduce, analyze, and archive test data to support verification tasks
Perform root cause, system hazard analysis and failure investigations
Find opportunities for safety improvements and be resourceful
Have frequent and transparent customer interactions on challenging technical issues
Work independently to determine and develop approaches to solutions
Participate in test readiness review, pre and post test briefings, and post test reviews
Assist with procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns
Coordinate test crews, support equipment and vehicle configurations for testing
Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations

Required

Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline
5+ years of fluids, pneumatic, or cryogenic or similar experience
Understanding of P&ID's, pressure systems, and associated GSE
Understand the Test Like You Fly assessment and exception process
Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
Experience working collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment

Preferred

Experience with space vehicle testing including fluids, thermal, leak, proof
Experience with participating in NASA technical reviews
Experience with facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control System setup and operation
Experience with hazardous commodity operations (H2, O2, N2, He)
Experience with scripting (Python or other scripting language)
