Responsibilities

Serve as a team member advocate in conflict or corrective action situations to ensure fair and consistent treatment
Coach, guide, and mentor group leaders and other members of management on team member relations matters including performance management, attendance, team member issues and concerns, etc
Coordinate resolution and/or referral of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries, as well as investigation of team member complaints or issues initiated by management or team members
Research and investigate compliance issues regarding workers’ compensation injuries and claims, attendance, corrective actions, harassment, etc
Support facilitation of performance management, coaching, and corrective action situations
Ensure that TBA, Company, and HR policies, practices, and procedures are properly and consistently administered and lead to fair and consistent treatment of team members
Assist in policy/procedure communication, guidance, and related education activities to ensure HR policies, practices, and procedures are understood and consistently applied
Assist and/or coordinate development and implementation of HR policies, programs, and practices
Assist in administration of compensation and benefit programs and other team member services (e.g., voluntary purchase discount programs, company uniforms, etc.) that support Company philosophy, profitability, and success
Support payroll and benefit administration by assisting team members with inquiries or issues regarding benefits, pay, annual enrollment meetings, status changes, PTO, leaves of absence, etc
Support team member communication, involvement, and recognition activities including service awards, all-team member events, business review communication meetings, etc
Plan and execute team member and team building activities to help promote a positive work environment and effectively raise team member morale such as holiday activities, plant luncheons, environmental activities, etc
Assist with planning, organizing, and executing team member internal communications, bulletin board postings, two-way communications, and feedback systems including monthly plant communication meetings, roundtable meetings, suggestion programs, and opinion surveys
Administer service award and other recognition programs
Support health and wellness activities and participate in professional and community activities
Assist the HR Manager and other members of management in appropriate loss control and accident prevention measures to comply with TBA and plant mission and objectives
Ensure plant compliance with current OSHA and other federal, state, and local agency laws and regulations as they pertain to safety and environmental issues
Attend necessary seminars and training to maintain and update skills in industrial safety and federal and state occupational safety and health laws and regulations
Develop, implement, and manage safety policies, programs, and procedures that will reduce frequency and severity of personal injuries and illnesses
Assist Group Leaders with the evaluation of safety problems and team members’ safety recommendations and complaints. Recommend corrective measures accordingly
Perform periodic safety and compliance audits including identifying and promptly informing management of compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities
Perform accident investigations and implements countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence. Investigate incidents and unsafe working conditions, compiling statistical data and providing remedial actions to achieve effective accident and loss prevention
Administer lockout/tagout, electrical safety, overhead crane safety, hearing protection, respiratory protection, hazard communication, hazardous waste operations (HAZWOPER), blood borne pathogens, emergency response, etc. programs
Influence behavior and inspire commitment on the part of all team members in complying with safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment
Serve as plant safety and health coordinator
Coordinate post accident / injury care of team members
Maintain required paperwork, records, and documentation related to accidents, injuries, and illnesses to comply with OSHA, state, and TBA standards
Develop and deliver training and coaching for team members and others on safety, security, and environmental issues to ensure skills competence, understanding of policies and procedures, and to maintain compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local regulations, directives, standards, policies, and procedures
Conduct annual compliance training
Lead and perform security and disaster protection activities
Perform in various roles on emergency response teams including first responder, technician, safety officer, and incident commander
Conduct periodic inspections of plant machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure conformance to appropriate safety and health standards and regulations
Maintain accurate daily, weekly and monthly safety and health metrics reporting to onsite management teams and corporate based reporting systems

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 4 years of diversified experience in safety, loss prevention, emergency response management, consulting, supervision, and administration in a manufacturing environment (preferably automotive)
Experienced in emergency response and able to maintain current First Aid and CPR certificates
Must have basic knowledge of regulatory requirements including federal and state safety and health laws (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT, EPA Risk Management Plans, and Industrial Hygiene)
Must have an understanding of ergonomic principles and company safety procedures, regulations and requirements

Preferred

Preferred Certification as Occupational Safety and Health Technician (OSHTEC), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Preferred OSHA 10 and 40 Training
Previous exposure to a multicultural office environment preferred
Automotive parts production experience is a plus
Thorough understanding and working knowledge of TBA's organization, automotive plants and processes/principles, company products, trade terminology, and manufacturing processes, tooling and equipment, and machine operation is a plus
