Responsibilities
Evaluate and analyze the financial and strategic needs of corporate clients
Collect, consolidate, interpret and present company and industry data
Perform comprehensive financial statement analysis including creating and maintaining financial models
Support transaction structuring and execution efforts, with increasing levels of responsibility and accountability over time
Identify and develop business opportunities with clients
Prepare client presentations, including compiling data and assembling presentation materials
Develop strong working relationships with other Corporate and Investment Banking employees, product groups and operational teams in the U.S. and in Canada to maximize productivity (CAG, WBO, GRM)
Participate in deal discussions and formulate recommendations for the appropriate course of action based on analysis, internal credit policies/procedures, and the Bank’s risk appetite
Ensure work product is adhering to U.S. Leveraged Lending Policies and Procedures as well as internal Scotiabank policy
Structure, analyze, and perform due diligence to facilitate prompt execution of transactions that vary in complexity
Review loan documentation and communicate pertinent transaction/facility details to relevant stakeholders
Assist with various ad-hoc tasks including conducting industry reviews, validating/providing internal compliance documentation, and updating internal reports for management
Participate in regulatory and compliance activity and team administration
Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment
Qualification
Required
A completed Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Math, Health Sciences or Economics
1-2 years' work experience in investment or corporate banking, private equity / buy-side, equity research, corporate finance, accounting, engineering or other corporate experience will be considered
Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent command of Microsoft Suite, with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
A high level of attention to detail
Experience/ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work
The ability to excel under pressure amid demanding deadlines and perform effectively in a team environment
Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new situations
A high level of energy and a keen desire to learn new concepts
Team player that is responsive, holds themselves to high standards, and is of the highest integrity
Self-motivated, eager to learn, takes initiative, and is able to operate with minimal supervision
An entrepreneurial mindset when it comes to generating ideas and marketing original content
