Automation Intern

EVRAZ North America is seeking an Automation Intern to join their Pueblo, Colorado team. The role involves learning to operate in a mill setting, supporting automation engineers, and assisting in various manufacturing-based projects.

Responsibilities

Must passionately follow health and safety practices
Support and learn from automation engineers in troubleshooting PLC, HMI, Drives (VFD’s) and communication networks
Assist in developing, testing, and documenting control logic and process improvements
Participate in maintenance and reliability activities related to automation systems
Help collect and analyze production data for process optimization
Support commissioning and modification of automation system on production lines
Maintain proper documentation of control systems, wiring diagrams, and software changes
Basic knowledge of how sensors, controllers, and actuators work together (PID's, PWM, etc.)
Perform electromechanical diagnostic activity
Work with production to implement new equipment
Plan and document control system design, test, verification and maintenance documents
Maintain good attendance
Performs other duties as they might be assigned

Required

Pursuing a engineering degree, preferable electrical, mechatronic, systems engineering or robotics
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong computer skills
Ability to quickly learn new software tools and technologies
Basic coursework in control systems, instrumentation and electrical circuits, required
Be curious and eager/open to learning new skills
Ability to work in a physically demanding manufacturing environment, which will include inside and outside environmental conditions
Must be able to work in-person, onsite
