Land Development Inspector, Senior

DeKalb County Government is seeking a Senior Land Development Inspector. The role involves leading daily activities, reviewing land development plans, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing customer service related to development issues.

Responsibilities

Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned co-workers; confers with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities; organizes tasks in order to complete assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with co-workers; assists with complex/problem situations; provides technical expertise; assists with training and instructing co-workers regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment; and assists with supervision of co-workers by reporting employee problems and providing input on disciplinary action and employee performance evaluations
Reviews and processes land development plans; performs inspection of detailed drawings, design specifications, and construction plans; ensures compliance with environmental control, storm water mitigation and pollution prevention code requirements, specifications, guidelines, and processes; and oversees quality control of the permitting process
Provides customer service; responds to citizen's concerns; resolves customer service desk inquiries and development issues; and supervises and advises staff on plan intake and permitting procedures
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures; receives and reviews various documentation, including design specifications, construction plans and code requirements; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including permit applications, design standards, intergovernmental agreements, and customer inquiries; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records

Required

Associate degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required
Two years of experience in civil engineering, site development or construction management
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license
Must possess and maintain Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Level 1 B Inspector Certification
