Horizontal Talent is seeking a Senior Technical Writer/Editor to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will craft and refine technical documentation to support innovative products and collaborate with engineers to produce documentation that meets industry standards.

Responsibilities

Develop and update complex technical documents to aid in product marketing, operation, and maintenance
Ensure all documentation adheres to company and government standards
Collaborate with engineering teams to gather information and translate technical data into user-friendly content
Analyze engineering drawings and data to create accurate technical documentation
Evaluate and integrate illustrations and graphics into documentation effectively
Provide time and cost estimates for project requirements
Engage with customers to address technical issues and project content
Participate in validation efforts and contribute to the design of technical documentation
Lead small technical writing projects and participate in system testing of manuals

Required

Proficient in creating technical documentation using XML Authoring Tools like Arbortext Epic Editor and Oxygen software
Strong command of Adobe Acrobat Professional PDF Software for illustration markups
Experience in Mechanical/Electrical/Operator Tech Writing within the defense industry
Ability to interpret complex engineering designs and translate them for non-technical audiences
Excellent attention to detail and mastery of the English language

Preferred

Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS) and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs)
Experience with customer interaction and service skills
Knowledge of military and commercial standards is a plus
On-vehicle validation and verification experience
