The Summer Intern in Asset Management – Design and Construction will support project managers in overseeing the planning, design, and construction of NYCEDC’s real estate assets while contributing to capital planning activities and improving project delivery processes.

Responsibilities

Assist with managing long-term capital plans and annual budgets for NYCEDC’s asset portfolio

Support all phases of project development, from procurement and feasibility studies through design, construction, and close-out

Collaborate with project managers, consultants, and contractors throughout the development process

Help review funding documents, invoices, and change orders to support compliance and reporting

Work with Asset Management teams to ensure projects align with policy, market, and operational goals

Aid in tracking project scope, cost, and schedule, contributing to regular progress updates

Help organize and maintain project documentation and asset condition records

Prepare presentations, memos, and reports summarizing project findings and recommendations

Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings supporting large-scale development initiatives

Represent the team in internal discussions and occasional public or professional forums

Perform other related assignments and tasks as needed

Required

Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply

Demonstrated enthusiasm for the mission of NYCEDC

Demonstrated written, verbal, and analytical skills

Demonstrated experience in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines

Ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams

Ability to work full-time, Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM and complete the entirety of the 10-week program

Preferred

Preferred field(s) of study: Architecture, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or related fields; demonstrated interest in design and construction processes is a plus
