The Laser Applications Intern is responsible for working as a team member in the lab to support the development of laser welding and/or Laser cleaning processes.

Responsibilities
Support applications team in Davenport, IA with development of new laser welding and Laser cleaning Manufacturing processes for customers
Operate robotic machines; execute test plans and or DOE’s
Cut, polish, and analyze Weld cross sections and analyze test
Complete summer internship project on topic of interest to IPG
Prepare reports and presentations summarizing work
Qualification
Required
Enrolled in an engineering degree or a technical school program
Familiarity with metallographic equipment for cutting, polishing and measuring of weld specimens
Knowledge of basic welding principles and practices
Experience with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills required for interaction within group and other departments
Results-oriented, with ability to multitask
Aptitude to learn new systems and technologies
Ability to maintain professional demeanor at all times
Attention to detail
