Responsibilities

This key position involves investigating and analyzing residential, commercial, and industrial properties to resolve claims and legal matters
Assignments may include contract disputes, installation deficiencies, material deficiencies, site evaluations, settlement investigations, structural assessments, and vibration analyses
Duties include gathering photographic evidence, conducting investigations to document on-site conditions, overseeing field-testing, and reviewing historical documentation
Preparation of oral and written reports to document the causes of failure, extent of loss, associated repair scope, and remediation recommendations is essential, as is providing opinions and expert testimony in litigated matters

Required

Ability to initiate, develop, and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships
Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering
5 years' minimum engineering experience working with residential, commercial, and/or industrial properties in a design or forensic consulting role
A PE license in New York is required
Experience in handling litigation and investigations is required
Knowledge of building codes, fundamental architectural and/or engineering principles, construction materials, assembly and installation, and industry practices is required
Must have the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, to clients and other parties involved, regarding the details of the project's engineering/architectural issues
Must be able and willing to drive 2-3+ hours per day for fieldwork
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and perform inspections in confined spaces or at elevated heights
Must be able to inspect roof structures and crawlspaces

Preferred

A master's degree is preferred
A current NCEES record is preferred
