Assistant Director, Financial Aid

Responsibilities

Assist with awarding of federal, state, and private sources of financial aid for both incoming and returning graduate students
Counsel prospective and returning graduate students on all aspects of financial aid
Perform Verification for selected students and review other documents required based on ISIR processing, to ensure compliance with Title IV regulations
Monitor and keep up with changes in graduate aid funding, processing, or regulations
Assist with private and federal loan processing for both graduate and undergraduate students, and follow-up as needed
Reconciliation of federal and private loan funds on a monthly basis to ensure all awarded funds have been received, and all received funds have been transferred to the correct student’s account
Represent the Financial Aid Department and provide presentations if needed at various college-related functions both virtual and in person
Support the Undergraduate Financial Aid team with coverage of counseling and other duties during busy times or vacations, as needed
Support the Associate Director of Student Employment as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Be an active participant in the life of the College by attending and supporting key events like Commencement, Homecoming, and other all-hands-on-deck gatherings. Show a spirit of collaboration and community involvement, including volunteering when possible

Required

At least two years' experience working in a Financial Aid Office setting or related environment
This position requires outstanding written and oral communications and interpersonal skills, including sensitivity to and experience working with people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and abilities
Problem-solving, and analytical ability typically acquired through attainment of a bachelor's degree
Outstanding customer service skills; true commitment to providing solutions in a timely manner. Ability to work quickly, independently, and accurately, prioritizing work based on urgency and demand
Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities
Uses sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential matters

Preferred

Experience working in a financial aid management system; experience working with Workday for Financial Aid a plus
Working knowledge of Federal Title IV regulations and processes, especially awarding of Federal Direct Loans. Prior Experience with Common Origination & Disbursement (COD) and National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) preferred
Experience working with graduate student populations a plus
Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Microsoft Excel and Word preferred
