Instructor, Dental Assistant (Part-time)- Bilingual/Spanish
Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is Wisconsin's largest and most diverse technical college, offering a variety of high-quality programs. They are seeking a part-time Instructor for the Dental Assistant Program, responsible for teaching classes, developing curriculum, and maintaining laboratory facilities.

Responsibilities
Creates, implements and monitors instructional activities of students during didactic and laboratory sessions in the classroom and dental clinical areas
Assumes responsibility for the safe operation of all clinic equipment; establishes and maintains inventory and preventive maintenance for equipment, and reinforces regulations related to infection prevention and safe use of all equipment
Complies with yearly update training for faculty, staff and students in Hazard Communications and Bloodborne Pathogens
Works with the associate dean to monitor program budget
Participates in in-service training, workshops and other educational activities as required or assigned
Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities
Manage the classroom/laboratory
Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation
Manage equipment, supplies, and materials
Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues
Collaborate with advisory committee in program area
Attend departmental and institutional meetings
Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC
Support student organizations and activities
Develop relationships with business and industry
Complete program evaluation and follow-up
Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bilingual Spanish/English Fluency (must be able to read, write, and speak in both languages)
Must have one (1) of the following: Associate degree or higher in any Health related field with relevant Dental Assistant experience -OR- Technical diploma in Dental Assistant or Dental Technician with relevant Dental Assistant experience
Must have a minimum of two (2) years full-time (4,000 hours) experience as a Dental Assistant
At least one year of related work experience must have occurred within the last five years -OR- Two years of teaching Dental Assisting/Dental Hygiene course work at the post-secondary level within the last five years
Certified Dental Assistant (recognized by the Dental Assistant National Board) within one year of hire
Must be able to communicate effectively through both oral and written means
Must have knowledge of assessment of student academic achievement techniques
Must meet Higher Learning Commission (HLC) standards (if applicable)
Must be able to relate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social and educational backgrounds
Must satisfactorily complete health screen requirements for the Healthcare Pathway, which include a criminal background check, drug test, and verification of immunizations
Ability to sit or stand for class duration with or without accommodation
Experience with an Email system (Gmail, Outlook)
Experience with a voice mail system
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Google
Experience with Self-Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems
Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
Experience with emerging technologies (e.g. social networking applications)
Preferred
Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning strongly preferred

HEALTH INSURANCE: MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans. See below for plan types: 1- UMR High Level PPO 2- UMR Low Level PPO
DENTAL INSURANCE: MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental.
GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE: MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is $15,000. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death.
RETIREMENT BENEFITS: If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.9%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.9% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee's behalf.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS: MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.
SICK LEAVE BENEFITS: Sick leave is earned based on one times the weekly workload per semester. The maximum hours accumulation is 640 hours.
VACATION BENEFITS: Vacation is earned based on the length of service and hours worked each pay period. (Not available for Instructors)
PAID HOLIDAYS: MATC offers paid/flex holidays based on position.
