Responsibilities

Receive, review, and issue permits and licenses (building, contractor, sign, roofing, storm shelter, special events, etc.)
Verify application accuracy, calculate fees, collect payments, and prepare daily deposits
Enter and maintain permit and inspection data in permitting software; organize digital and physical records
Provide customer service to contractors, homeowners, and the public regarding code requirements and processes
Schedule inspections and coordinate with inspectors and plan reviewers
Prepare correspondence, reports, invoices, and annual/monthly reports
Research property information and zoning records
Answer phones, respond to emails, manage mail, file documents, and operate standard office equipment
Process complaints and assist with general departmental tasks

Required

High school diploma or GED required
Two (2) years of progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience
Understanding of basic permitting processes and municipal codes
Strong customer service, communication, organization, and multitasking skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn new software
Ability to perform basic math, data entry, and read simple plans or maps

Preferred

Experience in a municipal, planning or construction-related environment
