Responsibilities
Establish and Govern Enterprise Architecture Policy: Define the foundational architectural vision, long-term technological strategy (5+ years), and definitive principles and policies. Serve as the highest authority for maintaining the integrity and alignment of the entire enterprise architecture framework
Executive Strategic Advisory: Provide expert, trusted architectural guidance directly to C-level executives and the Board of Directors on major capital expenditure decisions, technological investments, M&A integrations, and strategic technological opportunities that redefine the business model
Architectural Policy Authority: Serve as the final arbiter and ultimate authority for the Architectural Review Board (ARB) or similar governance bodies, approving major architectural exceptions and setting the overall framework for how architectural standards and best practices are enforced across the enterprise
Transformation Leadership: Direct high-level architectural design for the most complex, systemic, and mission-critical enterprise transformations. Accountable for ensuring the final implemented solutions meet the highest standards of security, scalability, and cost-to-serve optimization across the entire HCA ecosystem
Disruptive Innovation Strategy: Proactively research and champion the adoption of disruptive technologies and architectural paradigms that can fundamentally redefine HCA's business and operating models, providing enduring competitive advantage
Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders (e.g., business leaders, product owners, domain architects, security teams, infrastructure teams, and end-users) to understand needs, define requirements, and communicate architectural decisions and their implications
Systemic Risk Mitigation: Identify and assess enterprise-level architectural risks (e.g., security vulnerabilities, technical debt, single points of failure) that pose an existential threat to the organization, and propose large-scale, strategic programs to eliminate these systemic risks
Thought Leadership and Community Practice: Act as the organization's chief architectural thought leader, establishing and driving the Enterprise Architecture Community of Practice. Publish internal and external white papers and presentations to advance the organization's technological standing
Documentation and Communication: Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including blueprints, models, and views. Prepare and present complex technical concepts and architectural recommendations to diverse audiences
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field required
Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in information technology required
Minimum of 5-7 years in dedicated architecture roles (e.g., solution, domain, technical, or enterprise architect) required
Proven experience in developing and implementing enterprise-level IT strategies, architectures, and roadmaps required
Visionary Strategic Thinking: Ability to anticipate disruptive market and technological trends (5-10 years out), shaping business strategy through architectural foresight, and driving major long-term organizational change
Broad Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding across multiple architectural domains including application, data, infrastructure, security, and integration architecture. Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), modern architectural patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven architecture, APIs), DevOps principles, and data management concepts
Financial and Business Mastery: Deep understanding of healthcare economics, regulatory shifts (e.g., HIPAA, value-based care), and the financial models that drive enterprise decisions, ensuring architectural solutions deliver measurable, transformative ROI
Leadership and Influence: Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders without direct authority. Ability to drive consensus and champion architectural initiatives
Executive Communication and Presence: Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills with demonstrated success in influencing C-level executives and non-technical Board members on critical technological and investment strategies
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical, abstract thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to analyze complex systems, identify issues, and develop innovative solutions
Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to build relationships, foster a collaborative environment, and work effectively with diverse teams and personalities
Innovation Mindset: Growth mindset with a passion for learning new technologies and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for innovation
Strong Understanding of agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and software development lifecycles
Experience with diagramming and modeling tools (e.g., Visio, Sparx EA, ArchiMate tools), including demonstrated expertise in creating models for executive decision-making and strategic planning
Preferred
Master's degree in a relevant field
Experience working in large, complex organizations, preferably in the healthcare industry
Understanding of IT financial models, budgeting, and IT contracting/purchasing practices
