Human Resources Compliance Specialist

Responsibilities

Maintain compliance with employment laws and healthcare regulations (HIPAA, Joint Commission, State Specific regulations)
Prepare for and participate in Joint Commission audits for SUD/behavioral health/adolescent programs
Conduct routine personnel file audits, ensuring accurate documentation of licenses, certifications, immunizations, background checks, and annual training
Track and manage credentialing and training requirements for both adult and adolescent program employees (e.g., CPI/crisis intervention, child-abuse registry checks, mandated reporter training)
Support reporting, compliance dashboards, and follow-up on audit corrective actions
Assist with HR-related investigations and ensure accurate, compliant documentation
Educate managers and staff on HR compliance expectations and documentation best practices

Required

Knowledge of hospital and adolescent program requirements (credentialing, safety training, background checks, crisis-intervention certification, mandated reporter laws)
Strong auditing, record-keeping, and organizational skills with high attention to detail
Ability to interpret and apply federal/state regulations and accreditation standards
Proficiency with HRIS systems and electronic personnel file management
Strong communication skills and ability to train staff across various departments
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in HR, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field
2+ years HR experience in healthcare or behavioral health
Joint Commission audit experience strongly preferred
